Joscelyn's Journey

A Beautiful Child's Journey Through Hemimegalencephaly

Home at Last!

on August 10, 2012

On Tuesday, August 7th, after 36 days in the hospital, 3 brain surgeries and one shunt installation procedure, we were finally able to take our now shunt-free, seizure-free little girl home!

Oh, Happy Day!!

Our “next door neighbors”, the Hopper Family, were also being discharged that day, so before we left, we took a picture of these two precious warrior babies together:

We absolutely fell in love with little Kingston Hopper and his devoted parents, Nicole and Daniel during our stay and are continuing to pray for this brave little boy and his sweet family!

Albert, the hospital’s “Adventure Guide” met us in Kingston’s room and sang us one last song before we left. It was a version of Peter, Paul and Mary’s, “Leaving on a Jet Plane” but Albert hilariously changed the words to, “I’m leaving, in a carseat. Don’t know when I’ll be back again.”

God willing, the only time either of these sweet babies will be back in the ICU will be to pay a friendly visit all of the lovely people who had a hand in making their miraculous recovery possible!

Here’s a pic of Joss and Daddy (aka “Pringleman”) with Albert:

Don’t you just LOVE her sweet little pink hat? It was made by a talented friend of ours named Kate Wilson just for Joss! Kate created “kreated” it using very soft yarn that wouldn’t irritate Joscelyn’s still-healing scar and also added an adjustable ribbon tie so it wouldn’t press too tightly against her head. Brilliant! You can get your own “Joss Hat” here:

The Orlando Sentinel featured a beautiful story about Joss’ homecoming in Thursday’s paper!

You can read it by clicking here:

Doesn’t she look great? 🙂

Somehow, I get the feeling that the roller coaster ride isn’t quite finished yet.

There may very well be some unexpected drops, twists and turns ahead.

But for now,

we are home.

We are together.

And we are healing.

I feel so blessed to have you and your family in my life and that I am able to do something nice for you even from so far away. Give Joss, Pringleman, and the rest of the kiddos my love! Praising God that you are able to take your Warrior Princess home. Praying that He continues to provide spiritual, physical, mental and emotional strength to not only you and your family, but to all that you have touched by so eloquently sharing your lives. You have blessed so many with inspiration and hope. Thank you for that!
